DAY 19 (Saturday July 7th) Gillette, WY to Devil's Tower, WY:  77 miles. Left in the morning with a heavy cold fog. Once we climbed our first hill, it warmed and the fog lifted. The ride was pretty flat and fast for the first 50+ miles. Averaged 19 mph up to then. Saw a large area burned by fire a few years ago and still in recovery. We hit some good rollers late in the day, and then came upon a fantastic view of Devil's Tower, where we stayed for the weekend. We had a dinner and cake for Theo's 60th birthday on Saturday night. His eldest son and her girlfriend surprised him, and showed up for the dinner (from Holland). And, on Sunday (his actual birth date), his two brothers also surprised him and showed up for a couple days. Busy weekend. After dinner Saturday night, we had a margarita party at the base of Devil's Tower. On Sunday morning, Tim, Beth, Martin, Avi (from Israel) and I went tubing down the river for 2 hours. I came down with a stomach virus and was ill the rest of the weekend. I nursed myself back to health with chicken broth and Pedialite. Pictures: (1) view, (2) Christiane from Ontario, (3-4) views, (5-7) Devil's Tower, (8-9) Theo's B-Day dinner.
