DAY 13 (Saturday June 30) Ashton, ID to Jackson, WY: 81 mile ride today (68 miles planned - we did extra). A big day...the largest climb of the trip...the Grand Tetons, as we climbed through the Teton Pass. It was a steady incline all day, nothing too much, until the Tetons. We had picnic next to an active air show, and watched jets and bi-planes doing aerobatics. At mile 51, we started our climb. An 8 mile climb with the last 2+ miles at 6-10% grade. After we reached top, my group all agreed to climb it again on a different road (the old road, which does not allow cars any longer due to the road conditions). So, we did a 5 mile descend, reaching 53 mph (Tim got to 56 mph). We stopped at the old road (6 of us..myself, Erin, Theo, Tim, Scott and Steve, who is on Staff). The climb up the 2nd time was 5 miles and steeper, 10-14% grade at times, with small switch backs and terrible road conditions. However, we all liked it better. We had more freedom on that road. We summited a second time, celebrated a little, then did the same descend again (same speeds) but passed the old road and completed the full 6 miles. Our total climb (not for the day, just for these two Teton climbs was 5,000ft). A great day of riding...which led us to Jackson Hole for the weekend. A great town. Video: attached is a video clip Tim took of our first descend from Teton Pass. Pictures:  (1) Tim's drawing of the day ahead, (2) view, (3) Tetons ahead of us, (4) view, (5,6) air show, (7,8) start of climb, (9) 1st summit, (10) 1st summit with the "Teton Two-Timers", minus Steve - Erin/Scott/Tim/me/Theo, (11) the 2nd climb - old road, (12) end the day at the Cowboy Bar in Jackson Hole
